What’s up with the Pineapple?

A question I get asked pretty much DAILY is what in the world is up with the pineapple?! So I figured I would write a blog post about that…

I will warn you now, it is not that exciting of a story.

Basically, I decided in the beginning of 2020 that I wanted to create a brand and logo to differentiate myself from other realtors. I wanted something different, that I could turn into a recognizable brand where people would see an image and think of me immediately. After months… and MONTHS of trial and error I was about to say hell with it and just use some standard house and key logo. BORING

So one night I was on Pinterest (loveeeeee pinterest!) and I was scanning through tattoo ideas. I came across a neat looking pineapple. It was a black and white drawing with some watercolor on it. I thought “wow that is really neat looking, it’s simple yet stands out”. Since I am someone who loves to learn, I googled the meaning of the pineapple out of curiosity. Low and behold the meaning of the pineapple legit means warmth and welcoming inside of your home!

This is actually pretty neat… Basically people would put a pineapple on their porch, so that sailors/people who have been traveling far knew they could go to that household for a warm bed and food. Warmth.. and welcoming them into their home! BOOM a brand was created!

I then began getting to work creating the brand. I first had a logo designed, changed all of my business pages and social media to That Pineapple Realtor. Created my own website, blog, hashtag and so much more! Two years later people literally know me as the pineapple lady and have even honked/flagged me down when they see my jeep fly by with my pineapple on the back! I have been building and elaborating on my brand ever since.

Now, I have a funny story to tell you about this damn pineapple…

So, one afternoon after I had rolled out my new brand, I was showing a home to an older client of mine. I handed her my new business cards and she examined them. Seeing that they were new I figured she would comment on the change. She looks at me and says “You switched to a Pineapple? Why?” As I began to explain to her the meaning, she cuts me off and says, “Did you know that an upside down pineapple represents a swinger?” I just stared at her. 1… my 62 year old client just educated me on swinger symbols… and 2… I had no idea a pineapple represented that LOL

I looked at her and said “Well, I just put a lot of time and money into rebranding myself, so I guess I am committed to the swing!”. She laughed and said to just make sure they are not upside down. I LOST it. After getting home, I again googled that specific meaning, and low and behold it is true. So if you see me swinging in and out of a home MIND YO BUSINESS
